A Saturday afternoon canoe trip in the heart of the University of Nottingham: the swans were vicious, the water questionably murky, but the company was brilliant and the busy lake was perfect for people watching.
Sunday we navigated the Robin Hood Line to Sherwoord Forest. Yes, this is real life. We wandered the wide path in the dense woods to the Great Oak, where lore has it that Robinhood and his merry men would live hidden from the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. Nearby, children clad in green tunics and feathered hats could try their hand at archery.
