First day at Tortuguero! After a leisurely boat ride, we docked at our lodge right on the river. Later in the afternoon we toured the town of Tortuguero and walked along the beach where, in the coming months, thousands of sea turtles will come back to their birth place to lay their eggs. Instead of selling off their natural resources, the town celebrates and protects them.
